Kanjoos Makhichoos (2023) Movie Story
Jamnaprasad Pandey is known throughout his town as a miserly person who is reluctant to spend even the smallest amount of money. His family is tired of his penny-pinching ways and believes that he is being selfish with his wealth. However, what they don’t realize is that Jamnaprasad is saving all of his money for a very important purpose. Jamnaprasad’s father had always wanted to go on a spiritual pilgrimage called the char-dhaam yatra, which involves visiting four sacred sites in the Himalayan region of India. Sadly, his father had never been able to make the trip, and it was a source of deep regret for Jamnaprasad.
Determined to fulfill his father’s dream, Jamnaprasad has been putting every rupee he can spare into savings. He’s been living a simple and frugal life, making many sacrifices along the way. He hasn’t told his family about his plans, fearing they will not understand why he is being so thrifty.

The movie ‘Kanjoos Makhichoos’ has many good actors, but unfortunately, the movie is not very good. The title of the movie suggests that the main character is very cheap, but this does not add much to the story. The movie tries to be funny, but sometimes the jokes don’t work very well. Kunal Kemmu acts very well, but it’s not enough to save the movie. Some of the jokes in the movie feel forced and repeat too often. Overall, ‘Kanjoos Makhichoos’ is not a good movie, even though it has good actors.
The background of the movie is good, but it’s clear that the people who made the movie didn’t pay enough attention to the story. The movie takes place in Lucknow and is about Jamna Prasad Pandey. He owns a store that sells items for pooja and aarti in temples. Jamna is known for being stingy, which annoys his family. But they don’t know that he’s been saving money secretly for his parents’ pilgrimage to the chaar dhaam yatra. Sadly, during the pilgrimage, Jamna’s parents are caught in heavy rain and are believed to have died. Jamna gets 14 lakhs from the government as compensation, but he only gets 10 lakhs, and he feels cheated by the corrupt system. So he decides to fight back to get justice.
Kunal Kemmu is the star of this funny family movie, and he’s in nearly every scene. He plays a character from Uttar Pradesh and is fantastic at timing his comedic moments. Rajiv Gupta is also impressive as Chaturvedi, a corrupt government official who brings some balance to the movie. Unfortunately, Piyush Mishra, who is an experienced actor, is portrayed as a cartoonish character in the film, and it’s difficult to understand why.
The film tries to be a family entertainer with a focus on family bonding, but the screenplay has some problems. Some scenes are uncomfortable to watch, and some jokes don’t land well. The actors do their best, but the director doesn’t bring out the best in them. The movie is neither a great comedy nor a great family film, so it ends up being just okay.
